Students have the right to expect:

support them appropriately throughout their course.

-Class meetings which start and end

-An environment which respects the rights of

all individuals and which is if free from harassment of any kind.

-A prompt response to any concerns that are brought to

the attention of college staff.

The Environment


-This is the responsibilities of everyone at the academy

-This not only helps us to work better

but also helps prevent accidents,

damage and theft. 

to Keep the environment clean and tidy

use equipment properly and behave sensibly.

Health, Safety and Security


Observe no-smoking regulations.

Know the fire drill.

Observe all Health & safety regulations.

Do not operate any equipment

until you have been shown how to use it.

General Behaviour expected of learners

Behave at all times in a calm, quiet,

orderly and sensible manner and

treat others with respect and politeness.

Respect the right of all individuals

to be free from harassment of any kind,

whether sexual, racial or otherwise.

Avoid the use of language that

may be offensive to others.

Turn off my mobile phone whilst in class.

The possession or consumption of alcohol

is not permitted.

That the possession of any illegal substances

is a serious offence which will normally

lead to disciplinary action.

Comply with reasonable instructions

relating to behaviour from any College staff.

What ELBA expects of students


-Attend regularly and on time for full sessions morning,

afternoon and evening.

-Submit all assignments and meet deadlines

-inform the office is aware of any changes in your 

circumstances e.g. home address and contact details

-Give 2 weeks notice of holiday arrangements.

-Participate fully in my programme of study.

-complete ‘real’ jobs as part of your qualification.

-Wear the college uniform of black

-Work through the awarding body syllabus

and remember that learning is primarily your responsibility.

Notify Admin before the start of the session

if you going to be absent and support

any must be supported with a doctor’s certificate.

Unexplained absences from college

will need an explanation.

No College equipment and materials may be

taken out of the College.

Keep money, credit cards and

other valuable items with me.

Do not bring valuable items of equipment

or clothing to College unless this is

 relevant to my College work.

The College does not accept responsibility

 for any loss or damage to personal possessions.

Do not invite people who are not members

of the College onto the premises.

All students Visitors and clients must

report to Reception.

Any students with concerns, problems or worries

must inform a member of the College staff

immediately. In particular, if a learner is harassed

or intimidated by anyone they must report

it to a member of staff as soon as possible.

Students can ask to speak to a member of staff

privately and can make an appointment

to see them at the end of the session.

Students should familiarise themselves with written

notices and check the bulletin board.

Students must abide by the rules and regulations

and Code of Conduct of the College.


Students must arrive on time for

all sessions and must contact the

Academy if they are unable to attend class.

Team Work

It is important that students understand

the importance of teamwork.  

Be considerate and helpful to each other,

listening, maintaining a positive attitude,

cheerful, on confrontational, supportive,

give constructive criticism,

no swearing, no dirty jokes or racist comments



Students must understand the importance

of professionalism of working in a salon

an environment with others and giving advice

to clients and meet their beauty needs colleagues

and clients come from diverse backgrounds

and you need to work with them all,

therefore students must not refuse to

work with a particular client for any reason. 

Changes during Courses.

It is important that students be made aware

that the college may need to put new procedures

in place to improve its services;

however, students will be kept informed

of any such changes made throughout

the duration of their course. Help will be given

to the students to understand and implement

the new change. If something is brought

to our attention which requires immediate

change for health and safety purposes

then we will need to implement it immediately.

hygiene keeping

All practical areas must be kept clean and tidy at all times

This extremely important for

Health Safety and Hygiene reasons. 

Floors, bins must be kept clean, preparation areas,

student stations, wash basins etc must be kept

clean regularly. Make sure that there is always

a clean supply of towels and that soiled towels

are placed in the appropriate baskets. 

Take appropriate precautions when using

products which might cause dermatitis

or cross infections.
